I teach the Alexander Technique from my home-based practice in Dunmow, Essex.
I came to the Alexander Technique myself a number of years ago having suffered with chronic back pain. I had always been active, enjoying sport and dance and maintaining a certain level of fitness over the years, and turned initially to Yoga and Pilates, which gave me short term relief from my back pain. I was looking for something less strenuous but supportive of my all-round health and well-being. It was then that I was invited to have an Alexander Technique lesson.
Having discovered the positive effects of the Technique - not only for my back pain; I found that I learned to move without excessive tension and strain, enabling me to vastly improve the quality of my life and well- being - I was inspired to undertake the training to become a teacher.
I trained on the three year training course certified by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) - the world's oldest and largest professional body of Alexander Technique teachers. I am fully insured and abide by STAT’s Code of Professional Conduct.
In addition, having witnessed my own daughter-in-law struggle with the pregnancy of my grandson, and my own two pregnancies many years ago now, I have a particular interest in applying the principles of the Alexander Technique in pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood.
